Our client is a £50m subsidiary of a well-established, profitable and growing global group which manufactures and supplies a wide range of ingredients to the food manufacturing sectors. In response to sustained levels of growth, a new vacancy exists for an experienced HR professional to join the management team reporting to the MD, with responsibility to establish and lead the HR function.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role requires the job holder to influence and interface on a regular basis at a strategic and operational level, offering advice across the full HR cycle. This includes talent acquisition and management, performance improvement, pay and reward.

Having established the department, you will set the HR agenda, manage the budget, define the wider policy framework and provide a hands on service delivery to managers. This will include giving advice on change management, employee engagement and the application of HR best practice.

Not reluctant to challenge the status quo, you will be required to problem solve with flexible & creative solutions and to make sound decisions whilst influencing in a professional, collaborative and focused team environment.

The Candidate:

Of graduate calibre, you will almost certainly be CIPD qualified and a further post graduate qualification would be an advantage, supported by progressive HR experience gained within a manufacturing environment.

You will have strong management/leadership skills, the ability to challenge, inspire and influence at all levels, and be able to measure success by your positive impact on business metrics.

You must have a solid understanding of modern HR practices, legislation and employment cultures. Specific experience of having set up an HR function previously would be advantageous.

Decisive and assertive you must have exemplary communication skills with the ability to promote & develop trust with all levels of employees. You may currently be fulfilling a ‘number one’ position in an SME or perhaps a ‘number two’ role in a larger company and feel ready to head up the function.
